It's weekends like this that make us super happy - the arrival of summer (apparently), May birthday number four at Portrait HQ (Happy Birthday Sophia, Egle, Jo et moi)...
... and a raft of fab coverage including four - yes four! - of our clients in You Magazine. The new Sofas & Stuff Grassington armchair in all its Indian block-print glory, Jonathan Adler's striking navy kilim rug, Original BTC's iconic blue Task floor light and Ian Mankin's floral Kew fabric cushions got together to demonstrate what a spot of Delft style can do for your life. Blue is definitely the colour. (With a bit of white).
With thanks to Francine Kay.

Another week, another shoot - this time for British lighting manufacturer Original BTC. Twenty five years ago, founder Peter Bowles created his first bone china light, manufactured in Stoke-on-Trent, the heart of the country's ceramics industry. With the aim of pushing bone china to its very limits in size and form, his new Hatton collection is a triumph of British manufacturing and design. Multi-faceted shades in five different designs were brought to life by the brilliant Harriet Paterson, ex Living etc Style Editor, who knows a thing or two about Original BTC having worked with us on the last three shoots. The only problem with shooting for Original BTC? By the time each new light has emerged from its cardboard box, you've already mentally re-designed your home...and office...and anywhere else you can get your hands on to hang a light....

Last night Portrait headed to Clerkenwell Design Week, one of the most important events in the design calendar! Celebrating it’s 6th year, the festival showcased leading UK and International brands. We spotted lots of exciting new trends including plenty of felt and high backed sofas. We loved this mustard one so much we might have a new addition to the office!

We've ogled his oeuvre in Notting Hill and Kensington - so we were super excited to visit Jonathan Adler's flagship store in the Big Apple on a recent mini break. Located in the heart of hip Soho, which Jonathan has called home for over 15 years (his very first store opened here in 1998 and HQ is just round the corner), this is THE place to go to get the lowdown on the new collections. We saw luxurious Malachite bed linens, surreal giant hand sculptures, a trippy Globo pendant, a very cool apartment sofa and super sized beach towels.
We sadly couldn't fit everything into the suitcase - so we'll be hot- footing it round to Jonathan's London stores later this year when the new collection arrives on our shores.

Portrait headed to Pulse this week to get a sneak preview of new Wild & Wolf AW goodies. We have our eye on the rather fabulous Mini Moderns range of mid-century inspired kitchenalia. Designed in bright colours and decorated with a band of pattern taken from the Mini Moderns’ Paisley Crescent wallpaper design, the new range includes pinch pots, a casserole dish, tumblers, mugs and a snack stack – great gifts for the kitchen goddess! We’re making room in the kitchen cupboard as we type here at Portrait Towers…. Also on show were new additions to the popular Ridley’s Games Room, the pretty travel-inspired Rendezvous range and a new Beano collection.

In the mad world of PR, we begin working on summer in November, so by Spring, taking our first look at the A/W collections is a breath of fresh air. We kicked off the season with a photoshoot for British fabric manufacturer Ian Mankin to showcase Britannia, its largest collection yet, launching at Decorex this September. Moody blues with splashes of red were the order of the day, with signature tickings, stripes and plain weaves used to magnificent effect by the supremely talented Claudia Bryant. At the end of a dark Autumn day, who wouldn't want to kick off their shoes and dive into this scrumptious bed?

No party is complete without a party hat - and it seems the Beckham family agrees. Check out what we spotted at David's 40th birthday bash in Marrakech this weekend.... New Talking Tables' Party Time pom pom hats! The fun hats come in packs of four in geometric, spots and stripe designs. Happy birthday David!

We are delighted that British lighting manufacturer Original BTC is to receive a Queen’s Award for Enterprise in International Trade after achieving outstanding growth in export. Announced each year on 21st April - the Queen’s birthday - the awards recognise exceptional achievement in business and are the highest honour that can be bestowed on a UK company.
Established in 1990 by Peter Bowles (shown here with son Charlie, outside their Paris showroom), Original BTC began life as an Oxford-based home lighting brand and has evolved to become the Original BTC Group, with two further lighting brands, heritage marine lighting manufacturer Davey Lighting and LED lighting manufacturer Beadlight, under its umbrella. The Group exports 50% of its production, supplying both the retail and contract markets with an emphasis on the hotel, restaurant and aeronautical industries. With a family history steeped in retail, manufacturing and design, Bowles designs the Group’s products in conjunction with Charlie who became Director in 2012. Six UK production facilities include a metalworks, glassworks, and a Stoke-on-Trent bone china factory rescued from closure in 2002, ensuring that most elements of their lights are manufactured in-house from raw material to finished product.
“Winning a Queen’s Award is a huge honour for the entire team – it’s the highest accolade a company can receive in the UK. We’ve worked hard to produce high quality, well-designed, globally competitive lighting to show how successful British design and manufacturing can be,” says Peter Bowles.

This little beauty, the new Hamsey armchair by Sofas & Stuff covered in Liberty's Patricia Spice fabric, is to be found at the brand's NEW showroom in Battersea. A striking converted railway arch, the new showroom is right on the edge of the beautiful Battersea Park and a hop and a skip over the river from design mecca Chelsea's Kings Road. Perfect for a post-brunch foray this Spring...

Dubbed the Scottish royal wedding, check out what we spotted this weekend at the Murray’s nuptials – Talking Tables’ new Blossom & Brogues garland! We were super excited to see the pretty floral garland adorning shops and streets in central Dunblane. Congratulations Kim and Andy!
